Berchtesgadener Land - Recreation - Inspiration
The Berchtesgadener Land, the district at the very southeastern tip of Germany, is located around the Watzmann massif and Königssee (a lake of 5.2km² or 2.0 sq.miles) and belongs to the leading holiday areas of Germany. The climatic spa with its five municipalities Berchtesgaden, Bischofswiesen, Marktschellenberg, Schönau am Königssee and Ramsau is situated amidst the impressive mountain scenery of the Berchtesgaden alps with Mount Watzmann (with 2713 m (8900 ft) second highest mountain massif in Germany), Hochkalter, Hohem Göll, and Untersberg.

Embedded in this beautiful landscape, in the middle of the market in Berchtesgaden is the modern convention building with underground parking. Having opened by the end of 1973, the technically well-equipped convention center can look back on a large number of meetings and conferences, ranging from regional to international orientation.

For its excursion destinations the Berchtesgadener Land is world famous. First to name: the lake Königssee with the small church of Saint Bartholomä, Ramsau with Hintersee and Zauberwald. Busses and mountain railways give the vistitor a bird's eye view onto this magnificient region in the alps - whether it is a ride with the cable car on the 1874 m (6148 ft) high Jenner or the highest bus line of Germany on the 1834 m (6017 ft) high Kehlstein.
The vacation for activities is a top priority in the Berchtesgadener Land - for all seasons. In the summer the offers range from a 300 km (186 mi) network of hiking trails over an extensive mountain climbing and hiking program to the open air baths and to tennis and golf. In the winter the guests is awaited by alone 120 km (75 mi) snow-free trails, 40 km (25 mi) ski runs, 56 km (35 mi) cross-country ski-tracks, ideal snowboarding conditions (half pipe with flood light), toboggan runs, curling stone tracks and an ice rink, ski schools, ski-bob schools, a cross-country ski school. For our very young visitors there is a ski kindergarden.
After a sportive holiday the new spa & leisure Watzmann-Thermae is an ideal place for relaxation. 900 square meters (9700 sqft) are available to the visitors. Pleasure and health seekers cavort in the flow channel, on the 80 m (260 ft) slide, in the brine bath or in the sauna world with light, sound and smell modulation, in the block house sauna or in the steam bath.
